We built the thing we couldn't buy
Sidekick is India's dog mobility brand. We design and build rear-support wheelchairs, braces and lift slings for dogs whose back legs have been slowed by injury, illness or age, and we ship them across India.
Mobility is dignity. When a dog stops walking it is not only movement that goes. It is the confidence, the routine, the greeting at the door. Our work is getting that back.

Sidekick started with a dog I was fostering, who lost the use of his back legs after a street accident.
I went looking for a wheelchair and found two options. Imported chairs cost forty to sixty thousand rupees and took weeks to arrive. What was available locally caused sores, gave no spinal support, and adjusted with bolts. Neither was something I would put on a dog I loved.
I am an engineer. Years later I designed and built the first Sidekick myself, because it was the thing I had wanted to buy and could not.

- Designed the suspension system for Mars Rover Manipal as an undergraduate. A patent for that design has been published. It is a rover patent and has nothing to do with the wheelchair.
- Set up India's first drone delivery hub, in Arunachal Pradesh, carrying medicines to villages the road does not reach. Later built the same for parts of the Northeast and Odisha.
- Design Excellence and Distinguished Scholar Award, University of California, Berkeley.
What we make

Wheelchairs for dogs
Rear-support wheelchairs in three sizes, each adjustable within its range. Aerospace-grade aluminium, cambered wheels, foam-padded leg rings.

Braces and slings
Knuckling braces, lift harnesses and belly support belts, for dogs who need help standing rather than wheels.

Online physiotherapy
Guided rehabilitation over video with a veterinary physiotherapist, so care does not depend on having a rehab clinic in your city.

We size before we sell
Send us three measurements on WhatsApp and we will tell you honestly what fits, including when the honest answer is that a wheelchair is not what your dog needs yet.

Designed with vets
Every product is developed with veterinarians and pet physiotherapists rather than designed alone and shown to them afterwards.

Checked by hand
Every wheelchair is adjusted and load tested in our workshop before it is packed.
