Description

India's best adjustable rear mobility wheelchair for dogs

Your dog deserves more than just mobility — they deserve a ride they're proud of. Sidekick is engineered for comfort, built to last, and designed so your dog can move the way they were meant to.

Who is this for?

  • Dogs with hind leg paralysis or weakness — IVDD, degenerative myelopathy, spinal injury
  • Dogs recovering from rear leg surgery or neurological conditions
  • Senior dogs with arthritis or degenerative joint disease
  • Senior dogs experiencing muscle loss, weakening limbs, or loss of coordination with age
  • Dogs with amputated or underdeveloped rear limbs

Engineered for performance

  • Cambered wheels — angled outward for sharper turns and better manoeuvrability, just like a performance vehicle
  • Wide track width — a wider stance means more stability, less tipping, and more confidence on any surface
  • Lightweight aerospace aluminium — premium materials, giving a sturdy base, yet being lighter than most competitors
  • Tool-free assembly — no spanners, no screwdrivers, no frustration. Ready in minutes.
  • Easy Click wheels — pop them off in seconds to clean or store, click them back on for zoomies
  • Foldable frame — collapses flat for the car boot, the vet, or travel

Designed around your dog

  • Fully adjustable in 3 dimensions — height, width, and length, all dial in to your dog's exact proportions
  • Ergonomic harness system — distributes weight evenly, no pressure points
  • Closed-cell foam leg loops — soft to prevent chafing
  • Built for Indian terrain — tested on gravel, uneven roads, and the unpredictable surfaces Indian dogs actually encounter

Because your dog deserves their own name plate

Every Sidekick comes with the option to add a custom name plate — your dog's name, mounted on their wheelchair. Because when your dog rolls back into the park, they should roll in with their head held high.

Mention your dog's name on WhatsApp after ordering and we'll take care of the rest.

Not sure if this is right for your dog?

Every dog's mobility condition is different. Before you order, book a 30-minute video consultation with a qualified pet physiotherapist who can assess your dog's gait, recommend the right product, and design a rehabilitation plan you can follow at home.

Book a Pet Physiotherapy Consultation →

Consultations are conducted over video. The physiotherapist will review your dog's diagnosis, watch how they walk, and advise whether this product alone is enough or whether a different combination is needed.

Booking a consultation before purchase prevents spending on the wrong product and gives your dog a recovery plan built for their condition.

How To Use

Frequently asked questions

Does my dog need a wheelchair?

If your dog is struggling to walk, dragging their back legs, or has lost the independence they once had — you're already asking the right question, and that love for your dog is what brought you here.

A wheelchair is usually the right step if your dog is experiencing any of the following:

  • Paralysis or weakness in the hind legs — due to IVDD, a slipped disc, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM), or a spinal injury
  • Recovery after surgery — helping them stay mobile and maintain muscle while they heal
  • Old age-related weakness — when their legs can no longer support them, but their spirit is still full of life

A wheelchair won't cure the condition — but it gives your dog back something priceless: the ability to move, explore, and live with dignity.

That said, we always recommend speaking to your vet first. Your vet can confirm whether a wheelchair is appropriate for your dog's specific condition and whether they are ready to use one.

Will my pet get dependent on the wheelchair?

This is one of the most common worries we hear from pet parents, and it comes from a beautiful place. You don't want to take away your dog's chance at walking again. You want to help, not hinder.

A wheelchair, used right, can actually help your dog walk again.

Our wheelchairs come with detachable stirrups — the foot rests that support your dog's paws:

  • If your dog's legs are entirely paralysed, you'll want to use the stirrups to avoid dragging
  • If your dog is undergoing rehabilitation and still has some sensation in their feet, you can remove the stirrups and pair the wheelchair with Sidekick's knuckling correction brace

This way, their paws can start feeling different surfaces and textures with every step, sending signals from the paws to the brain, helping it slowly rebuild those lost connections — think of it as physiotherapy for the brain. This is called neuroplasticity. Although it's a slow process, it is more powerful than most people realise.

So rather than creating dependency, the wheelchair helps your dog practice, build muscle, and work towards independence again.

Can my dog defecate (pee or poop) in the wheelchair?

Yes, although to protect your dog's spine, the wheelchair does not allow your pet to bend or squat. However, it is specifically designed with open points around the defecation area, so your dog can relieve themselves naturally on walks without needing to be taken out of the wheelchair.

It may take a little time for your dog to get comfortable doing their business while in the wheelchair — but it absolutely happens, and most dogs get the hang of it with a little patience.

What can I expect in the first week of my dog using the wheelchair?

Every dog is different — some take to the wheelchair almost instantly, running and playing from day one as if they've always had it. Others need a little more patience, and that's completely normal.

Here's what we recommend for the first week:

  • Start with just 5–10 minutes a day. Let your dog get familiar with the feeling of the wheelchair without overwhelming them.
  • Gradually increase the time each day as your dog grows more comfortable and confident.
  • Never exceed 30–60 minutes at a stretch at any point — your dog's muscles need time to build up strength and stamina.

As the days go by, something beautiful starts to happen. Your dog begins to understand that this is their aid — something that gives them back control over their own body. You'll notice them moving with more confidence, exploring their surroundings again, wagging their tail on walks, and slowly reclaiming the independence and joy.

For many pet parents, that first moment their dog moves freely on their own again — even just a few steps — is one they never forget. 🐾

Why does Sidekick's dog wheelchair cost this much?

We understand it's not a small purchase, and we respect that. But let us explain what goes into it.

Sidekick wheelchairs are engineered products, not DIY builds. They are designed by top engineers in India, built with high-quality materials, and come in standard sizes where every small detail has been carefully thought through — the fit, the comfort, the weight, the support points. Nothing is an afterthought.

And because we make it in India, we're able to keep it more accessible than imported alternatives — while refusing to compromise on quality.

We'll be honest with you — this is not a fast-selling product. We don't make wheelchairs because it's a booming business. We do it because we genuinely believe every dog deserves a shot at living with dignity and independence. That compassion is built into every wheelchair we make — and the price reflects not just the product, but our commitment to continuously improving veterinary and mobility care products for pets in India.

In the meantime, if required, you can check available EMI options at checkout or WhatsApp us, and we'll do our best to help you figure something out. 🐾
