Description

What is this product?

Sidekick Knuckling Brace gently lifts your dog's paw to the right position with every step. Stops the dragging, protects the nails and skin from scraping, and helps your dog relearn how to walk.

Lightweight strap-style brace. Your dog won't tire from carrying extra weight on a leg that's already weak. The paw stays uncovered so it can grip the ground naturally and feel each step.

More than a brace, a rehabilitation tool

Most knuckling braces just protect the paw. The Sidekick Knuckling Brace does something more important. It helps retrain the nerve pathway between your dog's brain and paw by repeating correct movements and feeling different textures under the paw.

Each step the brace lifts is a step the brain registers as "this is how the paw should land." Over weeks of consistent use, many dogs with nerve injury, IVDD recovery, or post-surgery weakness regain partial or full paw control. This is why veterinary physiotherapists call it active rehabilitation, not passive support.

The medical term is neuroplasticity. The simple version: the brain rewires itself when you give it the right inputs. Our brace helps gives those inputs every time your dog walks.

Who is it for?

For dogs experiencing paw knuckling, paw drag, or foot drop due to:

  • Nerve injury and pinched nerves
  • IVDD (intervertebral disc disease)
  • Degenerative myelopathy
  • FCE (fibrocartilaginous embolism / spinal stroke)
  • Post-surgery recovery and rehabilitation
  • Age-related coordination loss

  • Sciatic nerve weakness

Use it on its own or with a Sidekick wheelchair

The brace is designed to work two ways:

On its own, for dogs with mild to moderate knuckling who can still walk but drag their paws. Use during supervised walks and physiotherapy sessions to retrain proper gait.

With a Sidekick wheelchair, for dogs whose hind legs are weaker but still have some movement. The brace keeps the paw lifted and protected while the wheelchair carries the body weight. This combination is recommended by veterinary physiotherapists because the dog stays mobile while the nerve pathway continues to retrain.

Material/construction

Made from flexible, lightweight neoprene material designed for comfort during supervised use. Designed in India with veterinary physiotherapists.

How to use?

Start with 5 to 10 minute sessions and gradually increase as your dog adjusts. Use during walks, physiotherapy sessions, and active rehabilitation. Remove during rest and overnight.

For best results, use consistently every day. Nerve retraining takes months, not days. Some dogs may show visible improvement within 4 to 6 weeks of daily use, depending on the severity of the condition. Consult with a vet for the best guidance.

Not sure if this is right for your dog?

Every dog's mobility condition is different. Before you order, book a 30-minute video consultation with a qualified pet physiotherapist who can assess your dog's gait, recommend the right product, and design a rehabilitation plan you can follow at home.

Book a Pet Physiotherapy Consultation

Consultations are conducted over video. The physiotherapist will review your dog's diagnosis, watch how they walk, and advise whether this product alone is enough or whether a different combination is needed.

Booking a consultation before purchase prevents spending on the wrong product, and gives your dog a recovery plan that actually works.
